I used the Prohibition lesson plan that used Homer vs. The 18th Amendment from season 8 today. The students really enjoyed the episode, and the post-discussion and notes went much better than the usual style of reading about it then writing notes.
I made sure to stop the episode a few times to make sure students caught certain events. We also discussed before hand whether or not they have watched any other shows that feature historical references.

References / Lesson Plans / GuidesThere are two different ways to search. 1) The first is a Complete Simpsons Reference Guide, which is a chart of episodes which feature usable references. Select episodes will have links to lesson plans and other resource materials.Complete Simpsons Reference Guide
    2) The Second way to search is through individual subject areas. In this the references that fit into each category will be picked out and organized.
